Biofeedback Dialogue - 1971
Performance
Two drum sets, two EEG alpha brain-wave sensors, Amplifiers, EEG synthesizer, speakers, lights.
Performed at 112 Greene Street Space, New York in May, 1971
Welch and another percussionist performed a series of short drum solos, one solo following another, as in a dialogue. After approximately 20 minutes, they abandoned the drums, sat on the floor and attached themselves to EEG alpha brain wave sensing devices together with lights, speakers and amplifiers. Through amplifying their alpha brain wave patterns, the drummers replicated many rhythms and musical patterns of the drum solos.
Following “Biofeedback Dialogue” on the same evening was a performance entitled “Recorded History”
